The Past

“WHAT ARE YOU TALKING ABOUT!, PLEASE SAY THAT WE ARE IN OUR WORLD!,”
Dean yelled at Claudia.

“According to all the information on the world’s geography, we are slighting out of our world,” she calmly controlled her anger.

The tensions grew, the entire squad has nothing to eat nor has eaten anything since the Arena. The two continued to argue at each other while the squad continued to travel the hills. Something was strange and real wrong, Yulik thought. Kerns didn’t really mind the two arguing, his ideas were to leave problems alone and let nature take it’s course. On the other side of the ideas, Yulik took interest in the Claudia’s observations. He took real critical considerations towards her observations. Yulik slows down for the rear of the squad, coming closer to the argument. Opening his month he says:

“Is your equipment working suffice enough?” he interrupted Claudia.

“No, for you information, The satellites aren’t responding and also the nearby communications centers are not hot either. I’ve sent out SOS to all frequencies and
bandwidths.”

“Doesn’t that tell you something?” he questioned her.

“No,” she softly said.

“I don’t think this world has our technology. Dean, that answers you question, either were out of our timeline or out of our world.”

“That’s a bunch of crap,” Dean said as he walks forward to Kerns.

The wind blew stronger as the group progressed through the plains. The grass wavered and the animals begin to speak softer as the calmness of the group itself, settled in with the setting. Darker it became and closer it was time to set up camp. Over the horizon a mystic portal opened as the sight stunned the whole group, except Claudia.

“We better find out what that was,” he queued his squad.

“Yes, Sir” they nodded in approval.

Mixes of aroma filled the air, tempting the taste buds of the soldiers. The sweet aroma of food teased the stomachs of the squad. Discipline couldn’t control this hunger, an irresistible urge. Yulik begins to notice the sudden increase of speed until a fire catches his eye. The squad halted at Kerns’s gesture. Pointing to Cyrix, he moved out taking his eyepiece and handing it to Kerns. As well to the whole squad, they caught a glance of the eyepiece. Yulik being the last, he recognized the
frightened woman. It was N’alo, but at first he couldn’t pin point the name with the face. He stood up and signals them to relax.

“I know her, she is N’alo of Keir, she is not dangerous, but a good friend, chef, and scientist”

The group followed his lead like a pack of wolves on a feeding frenzy mode. They hadn’t got anything to eat for a long while. Yulik was enraptured at the sight of N’alo. It’s been years since he has seen her.

“N’alo” he stuck up behind.

She shrieks and ran off to the other side of the fire pit. Relieved and shocked, she gently sits down to regain herself. Then the group emerged from the high grass.

“It was horrible,” she said, as she cradles herself, rocking back and forth.

A choco was roasting on the pit, enough to feed an entire army, almost. And a bit wasn’t eaten. Yulik sat down as the others begin to follow his gesture, encircled
the pit. Yulik unloaded his equipment and begins.

“Go ahead and eat, I don’t feel like eating much. There is a stream 100 feet away,”

Immediately the others, except Kerns and Yulik, started to eat away, not bothering with their manners. The five went and found comfortable spots to sleep and eat.

“What happened?” he gently starts the conservation.
